What is a Craft Retreat House?

You may know them as a Quilter's Retreat or any other specialty retreat. It is a cottage that is rented for a two night or three night "retreat" consisting of at least four persons but no more than eight. It contains a special work room for all kinds of crafts that is set up for the most light and least stress on your body. You bring your supplies and tools. The rest is just like renting a cottage. The kitchen is fully equipped. The beds have sheets, pillows, blankets that are changed after each retreat. Towels are provided, as well as soap. Renters often do their own cooking, order out or go to one of the close restaurants.

How are retreats reserved?

We prefer to book one group with one contact person. That person collects and sends the deposits, and collects and pays the balance due upon arrival. This is the person who will receive the key. The person who does this organizing will get their stay 1/2 off.

Do you offer classes or materials?

No. You may make arrangements from your end if you wish. However, one of the amenities Lucky Breezes offers is privacy. There is no staff hovering, no pushing for purchases. We do provide irons, ironing boards, a felt board, a coated line surrounding the garage for drying or display, and a laundry room that may be used for dying.

My sewing machine is heavy, will there be anyone to help me carry it?

If someone needs help unloading or repacking we will see to it that someone strong is there to help.

Is there a phone at the cottage?

No, if a visitor does not have their own cell phone, we are sure that one of your group will.

I see there are stairs going into the house - but I don't move so well, any recommendations?

Yes, if you enter through the garage service entrance you will have one small step to enter the house. Since all the floors are hardwood or ceramic in the living areas it should be easier for you to get around. We suggest you take the downstairs bedroom. There are two toilets on the main floor. You may want to plan on showers, though, as the tubs are extra deep soaking tubs.

Is there a T.V. or computer?

We have a TV with a DVD player, no HD, no local channels. We do not have a computer.

Can we get a later check out time?

It's always good to ask. If no group is coming in the next day we have no problem extending your check out time.
